So, up until last week I had 2 bikes. A Goldwing an aNC 750 x.
Combined insured value about 26k, insured mileage 16000 miles a year. Including commuting.
2 weeks ago I rang the broker, oh yes it’ll just cost the admin fee as I’ll be on a cheaper bike insured for 6000 miles less a year. Needless to say they’re taking the proverbial, but there’s nothing I can do.
Rang Saturday to sort it out, that’ll be £140 +
WHAT……..
Calmed down over the weekend and rang back today to try and get to the bottom of it.
It’s just absolute bollocks. Spoke with 2 people one said it was because it’s now a different month. Yes I replied, it’s a month LESS for the insurance on my policy.
Oh, then it’s as I’m riding a bigger bike. Apparently an NT 1100 is a bigger bike than an 1833cc Goldwing. :blast
Then it’s cos I’m getting a new bike so the value is higher. I did point out that 15k is less than 16k, but apparently I’m wrong.
In the end I took off commuting and it still cost over £108 .
So over the last year it’s cost over £600 on insurance.
Time I changed companies I’m thinking. :anger::anger::anger::anger:

What on earth is going on with insurance at the mo.
Had my renewal with Bikesure through 23 plate GSA1250. 19 plate Himalayan and 02 XJR1300 £584. Fully comp, not too bad.
However shopping around Bennetts and Carole Nash came back with just under a grand!

Increases are due in a great part to the repair company that the cabal of insurers use who ramp up every claim by 400% plus with excesive storage fees, loan bike costs and constant delays in repairs ( averaging 10 to 12 weeks plus on even simple repairs at £25 per day storage ) .
That is why our insurances are snowballing every year

Yeah, its outrageous, i cannot for the life of me understand why they put the work their way. Boycott them and put the tossers out of business.

Make it illegal for the insurers to define the repairer. Make it a competitive market by law.

It is your vehicle, you can refuse to allow it to go to a repairer that you do not agree to, but in the case of two I know they received veiled threats along the lines of delays in getting a vehicle assessed, significant delays to authorise repairs etc etc if you do not use our authorised repairer. Both regretted caving in to their insurer as using the authorised repairer still led to significant delays in getting the vehicle asssesed and getting repairs authorised and carried out. Lies and delaying tactics by the repairer to ramp up storage and loan bike charges.
Authorised repairer stating that parts were unavailable in Europe despite local dealers and Fowlers confirming they were in stock in the UK and on the shelves

In November I bought a new F800, phoned Principle insurance to change the bike on my policy, there was 10 months remaining, the chap came back that he wanted £594 to change over the policy, I pointed out that I could get 12 months insurance for £310, I asked the chap to speak to his manager to see if a more reasonable quote was possible but No it was £594. Told him to cancel the policy and took out a new one with another broker.
