Was thinking of renting for a few days to see what this whole Hog thing is like , ride a GS and Wing , any thoughts on which I might look at for few days , will I fit onto one ? I am 6ft,5 , What are your thoughts , we have a rental shop in Antrim , Many Thanks . Geno .:nenau

Firstly riding a Harley does not have to be the "Hog" thing. It's just a motorcycle. As for "which one" to look at? That's entirely down to what you're looking for and the only person who know that is you. All Harley's can be adapted to the "taller gentleman", but may not "fit" right out the box. The solution is to go to the shop and sit on them........or is that too obvious?

Right, I've done the "polite" response.......now you're on your own........:D

Being on the tall side you may be better with a bike that has forward foot controls...enjoy:ymca

I am both shocked ! and appalled ! by your helpful response.

What's wrong with you ?

I'm trying a different approach........”being nice” ….apparently it’s all the rage in here…. To be truthful though, I’m not feeling it yet…

Good idea Geno, if you lived closer to me you could have borrowed mine for a few days.
Hope you get on with it, then you can get rid of that Wing you speak of, atrocious pieces of shite so they are.:thumb

Hi Geno, I am tall.... 6'8" and have tried and ridden pretty much all of them....

I find softails very cramped, due to the way the frame "sits you in" the bike.

Touring bikes (Glides/Roadkings) offer the most space, but the standard seat pushes you too far forward, you will need an aftermarket seat... probably a Le Pera. you can buy brackets and brake/gear levers from HD which move the floorboards forward an inch or two... and you can buy aftermarket forward controls....you can also pop highway pegs on the crash bars.

I find all mid control Dynas are too tight, but the forward control variants (Wide Glide etc) are fine.... you can fit forwards to a mid control dyna if you wish...

IMO Forward Controls and Flatish solo seat enables me to get comfy enough.....

I will probably be replacing my old snotter with a newer 103 Street Glide in the not too distant...( i'm waiting for the MY 2015 bikes with GPS etc to hit my price band... as i'm not paying circa 20K for a new un!!) I will need to budget £250 for the seat and around £600 for the Forward Controls on top of the purchase price... this will see me right....

I must thank twizzle for his positive comments . He at least understands what it's like to have to fit onto a bike , you other lot of short assed people don't have that problem :) . I was going to go and check our what they have a rental fleet , was just asking for some positive help in trying to find something to fit . So Thankyou all for your advice . Geno .

A quick glance around this section must have given you some insight as to how unlikely that was going to be? :blast
