Hi all,I am after a true reflection on how good the new R1200GS TE Adventure is ? I am thinking of leaving Triumph after 10 yrs of riding them.
How good is the ride on/off road.
How good is the bike ?
Is it worth getting the Adventure or the standard model ?
All advice is very much appreciated and welcome.
Be gentle

Hi Dave, i recommend you go and test ride a few , i settled on the 12oogsa adventure, it was the best option for me
but may not be for you , the drums will rattle here all advice can be torn apart with good and bad points, one thing is sure
once you have found the BMW that you like you won't look back, good luck

Yeah I am taking them out tomorrow,I am thinking of the gsa as I do tour a lot and at weekends love to hit the trails and woods

Hi Dave,

I'm waiting for my new TE to be delivered next month. I also test rode the 800XRx and Explorer and for me it was a no brainer (if expensive) choice. The TE just does everything so well and at my size and weight the TEX was just too big and cumbersome at low speed and the XRx just didn't do anything for me, though it was a nice bike even with it's crap jarry suspension. which Trumpet have you got?

I have had the Explorer but didn't get on with it but now I ride the Trophy SE but want and need to get back in to the Adventure side of it.

Hi Dave, and welcome.

Well it's a funny old world !!!!!! After having had a couple of bad experiences with the early Hinkley Triumph's in the 80's I moved onto BMW, and for my main bike have been there up until last year.

After having a very bad experience with an early watercooled gs I tried an Explorer but didn't like the suspension or the ergonomics, so ended up with a Guzzi Stelvio. Lovely bike but did just lack a bit of grunt when really needed.

So, tried the gs again but still wasn't enamoured. After some soul searching and hours of thought I decided to give the Explorer another go. Two mates have them, both big mileages and still look like new with only minor issues in their 3 years of ownership.

I came away thinking that it was almost but not quite a good bike. It's problems being suspension and riding position. I decided to purchase and see if I could sort the problems.

New Hyperpro springs, Rox risers. I couldn't believe that for £250 I'd completely transformed this bike into what I wanted it to be.

Whichever way you go... enjoy...and always remember, one mans meat is another mans poison.

If you go down the GS route... don't let the collective sway you into thinking the Adventure model is the better bike...it's not.

Happy hunting,

Steve
