Thinking seriously about buying a 2023 KTM Superduke 1290 GT?

Had 2016/17 1290 gt. Suspension could not be dialed in. Either sea sick inducing wallow, or too firm, causing stability issues on bumpy roads.
This was my experience with the one I had and I hated it so much I only kept it 6 months - stew as dialling in front and rear for me it was either too firm at the back or too soft at the front and vice versa

Any way I have a 1390 SDR Evo and the suspension on this is the best suspension I have ever had - it really is sublime so when that tech gets to the GT .....

In response to Rashers post, I still have my 10 year old 1190. 34k, still goes well. Only issue I've had are , leaking rims and full beam switch issues. The 1190s seem to have been built better.
Resale value is terrible, I was offered 4k on a trade in 2 years ago, hence why I still have it.
Might as well run it into the ground, bmw definitely hold their value better.
Funny enough I was talking to my B.I.L. who owns a 10 year old 1190 Adventure and he was offered £4k for it in part exchange on a KTM 1290 GT end of last year.

Neither him nor me thought the £4k offer was that bad considering what he paid for it all those years ago, it was just that the dealer couldn't get hm a new 1290

He decided to keep the 1190 and bought himself a Kawasaki Z1000 SX with all the luggage to go with it :thumb2

I was lucky to get my 1290 Superduke R ‘fixed’ just before they went, sort of, bust. Thing is though, replacing half an engine..then wondering if any metal fragments are wedged in somewhere, just waiting to break free and cause havoc? Should have been a new engine.
Very happy for those who have good experiences. Long may it continue.
Not a risk I would take for a third time tbh. As to depreciation..burning ten pound notes one at a time, that is about the same speed as they go down in value. Taken a huge hit twice, worse than anything else out there.

Still have my 13 yr old 1190. Spent some pre-emptive money on it, Guglatech fuel filters, Unifilter air filter & gaskets, Oberon clutch slave etc. Only problem has been recurring LH indicator coming on after three nights outside hotel in torrential rain. Brilliant bike!

After the early horror stories of leaking air boxes, I too fitted uni filters in box and snorkels, still on original fuel pump.
Considering I paid 10k in 2016, I suppose 4k 10 years later isn't that bad. However ,my old 1150 is, think I paid 4k for that whenever LWR came out , maybe worth a grand now!
1190 will be kept another year , I believe some have gone on to fairly big mileages.

I had a 1290 superduke r, it was and still is my favourite bike of all I’ve owned
Not the slightest of problems

My R1200gsa supposedly a reliable tough bike let me down repeatedly right up to the day I sold it when the fuel pump regulator failed as the buyer rode off my driveway

I think luck plays a big part in bike ownership

There will always be luck. Just read about the 1st of the r1300gs problems.
Thing is I had big issues with two out of two KTM.
Zero issues with 6 BMW.
The BMWs were also easy to sell, without taking a bath.

I bought a 2019 1290GT, nothing but trouble, constantly waiting for parts to repair it, months in some cases. I got a full refund after 11 months of ownership. Buyer beware is my advice. The BMW S1000XR TE is a far better bike IMHO and I've never had any issues with the 2 I've owned, 2016 & 2022 both covered over 30,000 miles trouble free before they were moved on.

So in response to the original question....if it's cheap enough, go for it, lc8 is reliable, prob electronics that are more likely the weak point.
