third earth wire diode board

hi chaps my diode board had the two brown earth wires and at some point another earth wire was run from one of the rubber bolts too the engine block ,vie the oval holes.
Ok is this normal and will it help at all or should i just stick with the two brown earths.
proir too the strip down the bike started well and kept a charge I am not at all clued up on bemmer charging so any help would be greatfully recived

The earth went to the small bolt that secured the front of a Bosch starter motor. The reasoning being that the painted timing cover introduced in 81, sometimes blocked the earth path back into the main crankcase. This was a BMW fix. It's well worth cleaning up all the earths on an airhead every year or so

I binned the rubber mounts and used alloy items, as used on older machines. Got rid of all the crappy bits of wire.

I now have an Enduralast so its pretty barren inside the cover.
