River Lochy today.
Lochy Ghillie John MacIssac with a fish of a lifetime. Measured at 46.6 in (118.3cm) and estimated between 38-41lbs. It’s a PB for John and, for now, the biggest salmon landed on Scottish Rivers this year. Well done John.

Its a nice fish and John is a sound guy, pleased for him.

Hi G
Do they have to be returned to the river these days ?

Hi Symon,
We have had a catch a release policy in place for a long time now. we had 32 fish landed in 98, average numbers now are back up to 450 Salmon and Grilse.
There has been a successful restocking programme with a hatchery close to Glenfinnan, I suspect this guy will be taken up there and milked.
Hey, its Friday night, couple of glasses of wine some romantic music, lights down low :D

On a fly Gordon?

Some fish! Good to hear some good news about Scottish salmon for a change, although the position will never improve much as long as the west coast is polluted with lice from fish farms, and the half wits in Holyrood continue to encourage this dreadful poisonous industry and its devastating effect on Scotlands bio-diversity.

No doubt it'll be all the fault of Alex Salmon :blast:beerjug:

Nice wee bottle of Spanish here ( wine that is not fly) :D:beerjug:

Some fish, be a shame if he was put in the pot. His genes should live on for a bit, wonder how many miles and how far that one has swum

Almost certainly Gerardd, I've not spoken to John yet but Ill confirm when I do.

Definitely not destined for the pot Al, either released or, more likely, the hatchery.
