Got an itch that needs scratching, so going to look at a Yamaha XT 600 Tenere this week. Kinda fancy another as I had one in London which I loved, and another here which I sold after it had become tempermental starting when hot. Problem was, it's hot all the feckin time here :D This model has the electric start though :augie
So, there's a 1986 one with 40,000kms, for not a lot of dosh. We'll see how the test-ride goes. :D

Does, doesn't it? For 600EUR or offers, it's gotta be worth a look :thumb2 Amazing how many of them there are round here. Honda 600XLMs too, which are going for under 1000EUR...

Looking at that brings back memories of my vanilla XT600, which was an absolute hoot on the twisty little roads down your way (and lots of other places besides). If I could get a half decent one for that money... How did the test ride go?

Haven't had time to go see it yet, probably go tomorrow evening. Can't wait to be honest. I'm far too excited, not a good position to be in when trying to be objective and look at a bike :augie
Photos and/or test report will follow. :D

.

Well, it looked even better in real life. Just under 30,000kms on the clock, but who knows what the real mileage (kilometrage) is. Starts first kick, or first touch of the button, and runs alright. I was pleasantly surprised for a 25 year old bike :-) Paint isn't quite as good as it looks in the photos as it's been redone, and it wasn't a professional job, but looks alright, and it's only for hacking about locally.
New seat, front tyre and top box though :augie
No rev counter cable, a broken spoke on the rear wheel, a slight oil weep from the oil filter cover, and no rear indicators. Still, seems to run ok, brakes, suspension, tyres, chain and sprockets seem ok, so gave him 500EUR for it :D Pick it up next weekend or weekend after depending on business trips.

Cheers Andres, gonna pick up a 2nd on on Saturday which has a bad tappet noise, but new tyres, so I'll have the complete bike for spares :-)

Cool - Amanda and I are at the beginning of planning our escape from the UK, hopefully to the south of France........I've just explained to her another good reason to do it is a surfeit of cheap dirt bikes, for some reason she doesn't seem to think that a valid reason. Women eh?! ;-)

Andres

Lucky man, hope you enjoy the bike even more than I'm enjoying this cold, crisp pilsner! And for longer...

Good plan, couldn't recommend it highly enough. :D Funny, my missus didn't seem to understand why I needed a second bike either, let alone a 3rd one :augie When I reminded here the XT600 Tenere I had in London was the first ever time she went on a motorbike, she kinda agreed in a nostaligic way :angel
