Is it any good..... ?
or should I stay at home and spend the £40 'at the gate' ticket price on drink or petrol.

ps. I don't own a waist coat of any type

Aye - "awesome" waistcoats................

The whole town is full of harley-owners calling each other - "Dude", and doing that funny "handshake" thing.

Commonly called "Yankee-Dougals" - Scotsmen who pretend they are American..........

Anyone recognise the GS-rider?

Al:)

Don't recognise him but he certainly looks like he filled out a bit between the 2 photos.

It all depends on what you call 'good'. On the one hand it's certainly huge, with HOG taking over the whole town. In addition to the main site, most pubs and hotels host bands and BBQs. I know people who have been more than once, had a great time, but never been on the main site. The organisers are very friendly and welcome everyone, as long as they're on an HD.

On the down side it is, essentially, a HOG rally. Only you will know if that is attractive to you. ;)

I was thinking about going and taking my Hog !!

You won't be the only one. There's a whole section devoted to those on the HDRCGB site and plenty have them as winter bikes :thumb2

If you were hoping to get a reaction by turning up on it you'd be completely wrong :nenau

Are you aware that this is basically a free public event? The main trade area is in the Mc D resort carpark, live bands and events are on in various locations around the town, all free to anyone who turns up at the event. The ticket price gets you a rally pack if you have pre booked (patch and T shirt etc) camping, (but majority are in hotels) and entrance to the evening entertainment in the resort hotels, this is for rally ticket holders only, but during the day all events are free and public. So as its only down the road from you, go have a look, if you fancy it, pay up and stay the weekend, if not go home.

For me its a pure cheese fest, but I still find myself going there each year for at least one of the days, to me its more of a badge collectors convention than a bike rally and the main emphasis seems to be out posing each other with the most badges on your cut, biggest horns on your helmet, biggest / most flags on your bike / loudest stereo (normally playing bagpipe music) or by wearing a kilt on your bike.

I really don't think anyone cares if you are on a Harley or not, many people go on different bikes, but if you really want to get a reaction go to Granton when the run is on and park your bike rearwheel to the kerb, they dont like that!:blast

Thunder in the Glens is a good easy going HOG rally, you should do it once !

Camping was included in the ticket price when we went, Hotels Available !.

Visit the MT Riders Club (mtridersclub.co.uk) web site for the MT350 and MT500 there are a lot of us out there riding these bikes.

I had to visit Chapel Ash Harley the other day.....the "Wulfruna Chapter" tried to recruit me....:D

For the free hot-dog, burger and copious amounts of coffee flavoured beverage..I nearly signed up......:augie

My wife has never laughed so much as the only HOG ride out we went on. She seemed to think that it was amusing to see me riding in procession :nenau

im going not on the Harley though my Mrs will be tagging along so ill be on my goldwing ive booked a hotel £100 a night so i don't fancy paying another £80 for event tickets
