A 2 year old  whisky fae Taiwan (it was only distilled in 2008) beat three Scottish whiskies (including a Bruichladdich which only scored 4.5 oot of 40 FFS) at a blind tasting in Edinburgh.

Maybe Stevie Wonder was one of the tasters?

2 yr old tasting fae Taiwan sounds more like Gary Glitter tae me:mad:

If it was like the bottle of Bruichladdich 'Stone' I'm struggling through, i'm surprised it scored 4.5:(

...as in 4.5 seems a bit high? :nenau

I know BL do a lot of different bottlings but any I've tasted have all been good.

The competition seems a bit less than I anticipated TBH

here

According to THIS Bruichladdich X4 isn't even whisky.

Has to age 3 years in wood before it can be called Scotch Whisky. That be new spirit:thumb2

What they don't seem to have mentioned is that due to the higher temperatures in Taiwan the rate of maturation will be much quicker. Some of the Amrut Indian whisky from Bangalore is only matured for 3 or 4 years but tastes like 10 year old Scotch:tears They can turn over their capital 2½ times faster than the Scotch distilleries.

That's what I meant at the time, but perhaps i was being a little harse.

But it was still a big disapointment after sampling many great products from Bruichladdich

I was similarly disappointed by the 'Laddie "Rocks"

Their 18yo, issued shortly after the buyout of the distillery by the current owners, was absolutely superb honeyed nectar but for me the Rocks didn't rock.
