Tips for the best roads north of Glasgow?

Hi folks,

I`m planning a couple of days riding up in Scotland & was hoping some of you could give me some great roads to ride north of Glasgow. I`ve done the A82 a good few times so to get up to the Fort Bill area I plan on taking the A82 past Loch Lomond then A83, A819 at Inverary up to the A85 then the A 828, A 82 to Fort Bill. So I`m looking for some good roads up there, north of Fort Bill too.

Any tips & pics much appreciated

A lovely round trip from Fort William is out towards Mallaig (A830), left at Lochailort (A861) then back via Corran Ferry.

If you have (a lot of) time, take the detour out to Ardnamurchan point.

And don't forget to have a meal in G.C.'s pub - he might even join you for the ride

Only a suggestion...

but I've always avoided Glasgow.
Hang a left at Carlisle and head via Dumfies & Ayr to Gourock.
Hop the ferry to Dunoon.

After that just pick a road, they're all good.

Good tips folks apart from Bilko`s

I`ve just had a look at BTBR`s ride report up in Scotland & those are the places I fancy going The road to Applecross looks worth it by itself

I can get to Fort bill in 4 hrs ish so it looks like I`ll get some cracking riding in over a couple of days My Ducati 749 riding mate was thinking about coming up with me but I don`t think he would appreciate the roads somehow

Thanks for the offer G.C I might just take you up on that! I did a bit of riding round the Fort Bill area a couple of years ago when I was up there doing my diving course & it was great
If we can`t manage the ride out I`ll have to pop in the pub for a crack
