Looking to change to TKC80s. Comments on how they behave on and off the road and what sort of mileage to expect from them would be helpful. Thanks :) :)

:bounce1 We should take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism :bounce1

TKCs are fine on and off the road.
Expect no more than 3500 miles from rear and 4500 front
They go from cornering on twisties to trail riding to motorway speeds without any problem. I know as have done all three in the same hour.
They are an excellent tyre.
You might consider Heindenau K60s as well
Cheaper. Longer mileage and just as good. Just done the trail twisty motorway run this am on K60s and am very impressed. They act just like TKCs off road and I am very confident in them now. :thumb

For a knobbly tyre they perform very well on the road, and are very good off road. I can't comment on mileage as I haven't kept a close eye on it.
I use TKC80s through the winter and Metzeler Tourances through the summer, the reason being that I spend 95% of my time on tarmac but I live down a track which gets to muddy for the Tourances in winter.

Just changed to them actually.... had my first scary 2 wheel slide over a wet manhole cover so am a bit reluctant with them in the wet but in the dry I can confidently scrape my toesliders. Must say I am impressed with them for a knobly of course...

there great and they look cool... they even handle well on the road when you're running low offroad tyre preasures.

Not sure I'd use them around the nurburgring but it might be a laugh... go for it.

The rear does wear out quick but what price can you put on being cool

The mileage seems to vary without reason. :nenau
This one is about shagged now on an 1150 ADV, it's done 5200 fairly hard miles, and is chewed up a bit from spinning on rocks, still ok on a dry road though, I hope

That tyre looks better than the one I just took off my 1150
When I was talking about K60s earlier I do not know if they make one for the 650 or not. I have only recently fitted them to a 1150

im on the k60's at the moment ,well ok k60 on the rear , still waiting for the front tkc 80 to wear out :eek ,

both are good tyres with similar abilities on and off road , the k60's are hell of a lot cheaper and last just as long if not longer ....

cheers mike

On the subject of the K60 rear tyres, how would they compare with the Metz Enduro 3 Sahara's fitted to my Dakar, I'm off to Morocco later this year but am worried a TKC on the rear won't last the distance.
