Needing new tyres for my XL125, used 90% on road but taking it over to the IoM for the Manx.

It's got a 3.50x18 rear (measured at 100mm wide) which limits choice as the tyre is virtually clipping the chainguard.

Not sure matching makes etc are really necessary due to the bike but I can get a pair of TKCs for £89 from Oponeo.

Looking at the front tyre it seems quite a blocky tread, anyone have any experience of what are they like on the slippy lanes on a lightweight off-roader?

Any advice for a decent front 2.75 x 21 that isn't going to buzz my hands off the 'bars on the road?

Thanks,

Craig

If they do an MT21 Pirrelli that fits that would be a decent choice.

TKC's are OK but more 60/40 road orientated, imho

As Flipfly said MT21, used them on Honda xl125 , mtx 125 and yamaha xt350 my Trailbike rubber of choice. Worked well both on and off road:thumby:

Thanks for the advice, I've looked at MT21s but it's an older k2 XL with the low front mudguard, I'll need to check it will take the 80/90 front as that's closer to a 3.00 width, got a 2.75 at present.

Really toiling with space for the back tyre to the chainguard, present tyre is 3.50 but measured at 100mm, it's only got about 3mm clearance so don't think I'd get a 110/80 x 18 in there. Can't move the chainguard over either as the chain is practically up aginst it on the inside :blast

Dude... Look at Mitas tyres. Cheap with excellent mileage return.
Though I'm no off road specialist, I have had excellent results from using various different tyres made by Mitas.
I intend to continue using the brand, having six of my bikes fitted with them at present.
Timpo.

Cheers Timpo, will do.

I've got a Mitas trials rear kicking round my garage, would have been perfect as it's quite hard for a trials tyre but it's too wide at 115mm for the back, even on my trialler I had to cant the wheel slightly to stop it clipping the sidestand.
