Decided to try tobinators to stop the buffeting. Does anyone know of any gotcha's while fitting then?

Thanks in advance

Only one and that is the holes your current adjusters sit in they have to be made round to allow them to grip properly other than that they are a piece of cake to fit.

Take hours of testing to get them set right though:)

When taking your screen off, be sure to keep a tight hold of the chromed nuts on the inside, if you drop them you wil never ever find them, I promise!

Am I the only person in the Northern hemisphere who does not have a problem with buffeting on the 1200GS? I've had a few bikes now and the gs is positively tranquil compared to other bikes with full fairings/double bubbles etc.

350 miles and I've not stopped smiling :)

See post for today (14/05/05 Joe)

Fitted a pair this morning, can't believe what a difference they make. Took it for a test run, weather very windy, around Lincolnshire fens/Stamford. I have to say there brilliant.

They even enabled me to re-fit the peak to my Tour-X (see earlier post last week). Even my 12 year old son said it was'nt so drafty on the back and thats something.

All in all a good investment.

...yep, have to agree, they have reduced the wind noise generated by turbulance on the top of my lid.

Only downside is slight increase in screen vibration at a cold idle and reflections from the headlight onto the inside of the screen. I'm hoping that the cover thing done by Nippy Norman (probably Touratech item) which covers the top of the lights, may solve the problem, but I'm not sure if its compatible with Tobinators??

Didn't consider reflected light GSmonkey, if you do get the cover can you let me know how you get on.

Cheers

This mod works a treat :)

I'm thinking of this part Eric:

I can't tell whether it clamps around the screen mount or actually attaches to the bottom two bolts which fix the screen.

Either way it may not work together with tobinators??

Yep - it does work with the Tobes. The part shown bolts to the supporting framework behind the screen. The smaller plate goes under the criss-criss bit and the plate goes on top of it.

i have a tobinator and the afore mentioned touratech part. They both work well, however on the higher settings, you might want to put a circular pad on the touratech item to stop the tobinator touching it. At certain revs it makes a little noise.
I used small foam/rubber pads, the things you would find on the bottom of a speaker, or toaster that would stop it sliding around on a slipery surface !

ian

Is the rattle caused by the backnuts of the tobinators touching the touratech part, or is it the part itself that rattles?

Does this stop the problem of light reflecting from the headlight??

------------

Yes the rattle is caused by the backnuts of the tobinator when its set to position 3rd from top. Easily cured, with small foam pads. I bought a pack of 20 from £2 from a local hardware store. No the touratech unit does not rattle itself.

With regards to the light reflecting from the headlight, to be honest, i dont know. I have never noticed anything different.

Hi
I know this is an old thread, but was wondering where I can get the headlight deflector. eric_norman

I have just added the touratech light cover, and this deflects the light onto the screen something chronic

I have also just bought the tobinators aswell so need even more help!!

Sorry
Also are there any pictures of tobs + touratech item also mentioned in thread together? iangough

thanks
