A heads up to anyone with an interest in this unsung hero and those who have had a pint in his pub "The South Pole" in Annascaul!

All this week (to 28 March) the Grand Opera house in Belfast is running Aiden Dooley's one man show on the life of this amazing and almost forgotten explorer.

I went to the show last evening and it was brilliant. If you want to hark back to the inspiration of heroic acts of bravery and derring-do, and realise that we had our own home grown hero to rival Shackleton and Scott, this is a must see show. Two hours flew by!
