tom tom rider 1 not charging

tom tom rider one,less than a year old cradle not charging after connecting to canbus at headstock, tried my mates cradle and same result and i think i have damaged them both as they won,t work straight from battery now, f,expensive bit of diy, the pins move freely and look ok
the canbus lead has 12 volts at the plug end and the cradle end has four contacts which have readings left to right
contact 1, 3 volts
contact 2, 0
contact 3, 3/4 volts
contact 4, 3/4 volts
does this sound about right and any suggestions of how to fix

does tom tom have a number i can ring as the website has anything but

It's contact 1 & 4 which is the supply. And you should read:
Contact 1 5V+
Contact 4 5V-
