Well I emailed them to enquire about this. My reply:

Thanks for your enquiry

The first Rider was rubbish in terms that it always turned off, froze and did everything you didn't want from a Sat Nav,

The V2 has been updated to stop it from doing all of that and too this date they have been fine.

Does anyone have knowledge of this??

Hardly a confidence inspiring endorsement :nenau

Sounds more like a simple firmware upgrade, which should be available from the TomTom site if you purchased your Tomtom some time ago.

S'funny i have a version 1 that never turns itself of or freezes but does everything i want a satnav to do. Maybe i had a free upgrade sent to me by Bluetooth without my knowledge.

I think the Rider itself is OK, it's the cradle that needs a version 2. IMHO when and if this happens there should be a recall on the v1 cradle with free upgrade to the improved model.

I quite agree with that. However am I right in thinking that the Touratech bracket uses the TTR cradle but does solve the problem?

I dont think we have a hope in hell of a free upgrade after talking to tomtom who deny all knowledge of a problem with the cradles and thats theres a V2 coming.............. Ive tried and tried but no luck!........ All the say is call them and we never had any ones with that problem!....

If I had a list of people proper names and contacts I would show them that but on my say so they just dont listen!

Dare I say it but if there was a similar problem with a Garmin unit I think the response would be considerably more favourable to the consumer.
