Is it possible to listen to mp3 files on my phone through the bluetooth connection to the Tom Tom Rider V2? I know you can with a zumo but is it possible with a Tom Tom?

Using Media Center the tomtom v2 can play videos and mp3's but I cant get it to come out of the Bluetooth headset yet... still working on that :thumb

Thanks Mike. I ordered my V2 last week & it should, hopefully be here tomorrow. I'll have a look/see/play/fiddle then. If I find out how to play mp3s through the bluetooth, I'll post back here....

The V2 is a good bit of kit with excellent maps and very fast remapping..Ive been pleased with my V2.. :thumb2

It was a toss up really between the V2 and the Zumo 550. After my experiences with my Garmin Quest, the Tom Tom mobile on my phone, reading numerous posts on this forum and then speaking to friends who own either type, it was the V2 that came out on top.

I also hope to get a Scala Q2 headset when they go on sale to compliment the V2 and allow bike to bike comms. I was hoping to pass the supplied headset onto my pillion wife but not sure whether the two headsets are compatible, as I've heard conflicting stories.

The reason for the initial post was that I haven't been able to find anything about playing music through the bluetooth system on the V2.

U using mobilnova?

What's that?

Just found out that the Scala Q2 is backwards compatible with the Scala range of headsets.

The Zumo has on onboard music player if that is what you are referring to...I've never listed to music on my phone via bluetooth, only music from the Zumo via bluetooth.

And I ditched the bluetooth headset pretty quickly...no way to charge it on the road:blast, whereas with a wired solution you don't need to :beerjug:

I purchased Mobilnova after reading their website description ".....Rider (no sound output on Rider), Rider New Edition (with sound)".

Unfortunately, Mobilnova does not do what it says on the tin. You do not get any sound via the Bluetooth connection. I e-mailed their support section and got this response: "There is no fix, we do not support bluetooth. In next version we will add bluetooth remote control support. Bluetooth audio will be later but I can not promise you anything".

I have requested a refund of my 30 euros but I have had no response from them as yet. I have also taken the matter up with PayPal to try and recover my money.

Some compatibility problems to work around on TTV2 & Q2 - but the Lord gave us forums to solve them....

:D

I have been using the TT Rider V2 with a Q2 for a couple of weeks now with no problems whatsoever. Infact, I think its great, especially with the FM radio going!
I suspect the person who made the post in the link you referred to, did not pair up the devices properly. My pillion wife uses the TT V2 supplied headset and they are compatible with the Q2. Highly recommended but don't bother with Mobilnova for bike use.

Ok now my question!...whats the Q2 please?.... By the way that was a poor reply from Mobilnova wasnt it.

Scala Q2 is a new bluetooth headset that allows bike to bike communication up to 500m, it has a built in FM radio, allows mobile phone use via blutooth and connects to bluetooth enabled GPS systems. Best price I found was £110 inc VAT from here.

Mobilnova's reply was far from adequate. However, they have now changed their website description to include the statement "Rider New Edition (with sound via car dock)" following my complaint. It's not over yet though on that front. I know 30 yoyos isn't much but it was the principle. They stated on their website that Mobilnova provided sound output on the Tom Tom Motorcycle Rider V2 - it didn't. Not unless you purchased a car and car dock!

Thanks for the reply.... I wouldnt give up on getting a refund and good luck I hope they give you the money back:thumb2
