Tom Tom Rider

I've also been eagerly following the non-appearance of the TomTom RIDER. I think they're starting to take the p!55 now. There's 8 days left of Q3 (which in itself is 92 days) and nobody knows when it's going to be on the shelves.

I'm currently running an eTrex Legend C, and whilst I'm very happy with the actual unit, I'm deeply disappointed in Garmin for supplying such a basic basemap (A5 through Milton Keynes isn't on it!) and asking for between £150 to £200 for "proper mapping" - that puts the £250 (ish) GPS up to £400 which is way more than a Quest is. :spitfire :spitfire

Therefore I'm eyeballing the Quest, or the Rider (don't want a 26??-series as they don't have built in battery). I'd like the Rider because of the accessories that comes with it, and I think the Bluetooth connection to the mobile is quite a cool feature. I also like the fact that it's Linux Powered.

However, the Quest is available in "any" store, and is probably going to be much cheaper....

TomTom is losing points every minute...
Hi,

I beleive they are now available.. a mate in the office is expecting delivery tomorrow.

I will try and find out where he purchased it and let you all know.

uksatnavltd.....I'm afraid we have rules on posting ads...for one thing you'll need to be a sponsor and as you're a commercial business, you'll also need to speak to BHT and sort it out with him.

Your posts are being modded right now- blatant ads like that are'nt on :nono :nono

OK thats fine... Didn't see anything in the Ts&Cs when I signed up... Just wanted to provide a service to your members.

Sorry to have caused any strife...

Got my TT Rider delivered today so was very excited for a very short period.

Problem 1:
Cannot connect my bluetooth headset at all. Doesn't matter what I try. The product manual is next to useless!

Problem 2:
No option available at all to mount it in the car. TT website says Q1\2006 for the car bracket - yeah right, if you believe that...

Sn1p3r,

Re: 1 Have you charged up the Bluetooth dongle ? It fits the supplied chargers powerplug. I presume some led should show you its charging/charged.

Hello Pondboy, yes I had it charged but I never held the On button in long enough to get the blue\red flashing. I got it in the end and its sorted now.

GPSWarehouse have also sorted me out with all the gubbins so that I can mate half Ram-mount with half TomTom bracket and it should hopefully give me mounting options for both car and bike.

I am annoyed at the manual though. I feel its way too 'light'. Also, the interface have lost several 'advanced' features for example you used to be able to navigate to coordinates which you can't do anymore. You can't even type in coordinates and make them a favorite.

Still playing with the unit and will give it a try out tomorrow to see how it goes but so far I am not impressed by a long shot!

Anyone know if u can pair the tom tom to a system 5 Bluetooth helmet? :beerjug:

I'll agree that the manual is a bit 'lite' - but I don't think any of the 'Go' series have been able to type in coordinates even as a favourite - there are ways and means around this, but it involves a PC and creating POI's manually...
