I'm after a car-specific satnav with Uk and Europe mapping.
I've been a garmin owner for many years - bikes and cars - but toying with the idea of getting a tomtom, if only for a change.

Just spent 20 minutes on amazon and I'm still none the wiser

Needs to have this lane assist thingy (for wife I might add) and would prefer a larger screen (4.3+).

Tomtom say that I can update any mapping within 90 days of buying a satnav - not too sure if garmin do this :nenau

So, I've got up to £150 to splash out....

Garmin or Tomtom :nenau

Looked at this earlier

I use a tom tom 1 for the car, and a Garmin 660 for the bike. Out of the 2 the tom tom has the better user interface BUT the garmin somehow seems more robust and better put together.
One thing to consider is the cost of map updates, and i know that there are several Garmin models (Nuvi- i think) with free lifetime map updates at the moment.
Try looking at the www.handtec.co.uk website for more info. I have bought from them and they seem a decent outfit to deal with.
