Hopefully one of you knowledgable types may be able to help?

I have an Inforad Gatso detector on my gs12 ( the small led light on a wand that changes colour when you near the dreaded things) which has functioned well, it has its own seperate gps receiver fixed near where people often put their front accesory sockets. I have recently installed a tomtom rider which also functions well regardless of the inforad. BUT when both are on together the tomtom is fine but the inforad struggles to find satelites and can take 20 mins and then drops out frequently, could they be conflicting in some strange way or is it down to the weird atmospherics at the moment, when the tomtom is off the bike the inforad works as normal, could it be too much power drain? the inforad is wired into the rear socket and the tomtom into the front/gps socket

any help appreciated

Yup, could be interference... the TomTom could be making electronic noise at a frequency that disrupts the other GPS's reception... Though as it's certified, it shouldn't be so bad that moving either unit around a bit shouldn't get them both working...

Other things to try are to try to reduce radiated noise... wrapping a ferrite (the "lumps" that you find on computer accessory cords) onto the end of the power cord... other compicated things...

Make sure that the one GPS is not above the other's antenna..

Good luck, you should be able to get them working... power supply should NOT be an issue, other than radiated noise as above..

Al...

I use both the TTR and an Inforad without any problems. My receiver for the Inforad is on the front beak so well away from the TTR, maybe this helps.

thanks guys will try your suggestions....

btw i love the tomtom compared with my old quest 1 ( am now taking cover )

clearer bigger screen, 7 digit postcode search, much quicker input etc

the "keyboard" on the quest drove me mad and you get all the brackets with the tt and a case!! without having to shell out £'s....

TomTom is for Girls. You've bought a "man's bike", Why get a "Girlie" GPS?

Have they sorted out the "Changing of mapset at the border" issue yet?
