Evening

I have just wired the charger cable to the battery and run the cable under the fairings and up to the right of the front forks. Then cable tied it within the front fairing for easy access when required. I just wanted to see if that is how others would do it or if there were better ways. Thoughts?

Also, the RAM bar that stays on the bike is too big (IMHO) to fit on the bar that the BMW sat nav should go. Am I going to have to make a fatter bar or does anyone have a suggestion? Is there a non-RAM mount for the TT Rider that might do it?

Cheers

J

The thread below covers fitment of the Garmin Zumo 500/550 to the bar, but have a squizz anyway... some of the ideas might prove useful.

Is it a powered mount? If so, you can splice the positive and negative leads into the leads feeding the cockpit Hella plug (bottom right-hand corner of the instruments).
If not, a quick and easy way would be to buy a cheap mobile-phone car charger, cut about the housing so it's a bit more compact, cut off the Micro-USB connector and replace it with a Mini-USB connector, and wire the 12V input leads into the Hella plug with the 5V output lead running up the headstock to plug into the Tomtom from the bottom.

I fitted my V5 Rider unit by just plugging it into the power skt down under the RHS of the dash, (same as the old TC model).

Powers on and off with the ignition............

I used the bracket that comes with the sat nav preparation kit with the Tom Tom mounting kit bolted to the BMW sat nav bar. I think I had to use different bolts as the Tom Tom needed a bigger diameter and slightly longer bolt to fit.
