Is the latest TomTom Rider any better then the old one ?

I don't know if it's any better as it's the first sat nav I've owned, but I've used various integral car systems and TomTom car units. I've had my TTR2 for a few weeks now, using it in car and on bike, works well enough for me.

Biggest issue with the old one was its ability to fall out of its cradel. This is fixed with the TT2.

There is a thread here somewhere in which the poster thinks the TTR2 is a vast improvement and has resolved all the issues with the Mk 1

(have a trawl through the GPS section - it's within the last 2 weeks.)

Not sure if their customer care has improved, though
