Hi folks,

As well as the GS, I have a Triumph Sprint ST that I've had nearly a year. I was in speaking to the dealer the other day and in the past year I've done about 8500 miles on it, I've no intention of changing it at the moment but I like to be on one of the bikes most days.

My dealer was telling me I'm doing too many miles on it and I should think of changing before I lose too much money, what are your views? I'm quite happy with the Sprint and don't want to change, and I will keep putting miles on it, but what should I realistically be doing? I

don't see the point in having a bike and not using it and personally the extra I'd have to pay changing ever year or so doesn't seem worth it.

Cheers

Tim

Maybe thats why he's a salesman:augie it reeks of he needs to boost his sales before he gets the Tic Tac.

FWIW....IMHO......answered your own question there mate.......:)

Big moden 'bikes, serviced regularly, running on decent oil, will run.....and.....run....and.....run......etc......

Ride it.....enjoy it......:thumb2 :)

Too many part time riders out there who assume that a 3000 mile 3 year old bike is the norm. Probably the salesman is just pandering to his customers wishes.

i'd say he was after your money.

he's not your mate. probably.

I reckon Jonnie's said it already.

I, along with several other tossers went on a tour of the Triumph factory last August. Very interesting too.

As part of his spiel he said that any modern motorcycle engine will easily do in-excess of 100'000 miles.

Maybe they should tell the dealers that too.

.

I was rather surprised to notice that I had actually done 11000miles on my bike last year

Then again I buy a car/bike for a purpose and that purpose always includes mileage - I never think about the re-sale value..maybe I should :nenau

Cheers for all the replies folks. Pretty much what I was thinking..I've got the bikes for a reason and its cos they are great rides :P and I intend to keep riding them loads.
