Too short for a standard GS?

I am 5' 8" with 30" inside leg. I have been trying to decide between ordering a lowered suspension version, or possibly being able to get away with a standard bike with the low seat on the low position.
So, having just got back from a test ride today on a standard with low seat/low position, one thing that I had completly missed was that lowering the seat causes the knees to be bent further. My old creaking knees were not happy and I got back to the dealers talking about putting the low seat into the high position!

I am just switching from a 1050 Tiger & XT660Z Tenere. Comparing back to them, the GS seems narrower and with a lower centre of gravity and so whilst I couldn't get my feet flat, I felt much more confident. Low speed manoeuvres felt like the bike had a giro keeping it steady compared to my current bikes! Very confidence inspiring:D

I think I will be going for the standard GS and now trying to decide between the low or standard seat.

Wunderlich do a rider footpeg lowering kit which drops them by 1". Pricey though £139 at nippy normans.
