Too wet for a Tuareg??

Well i'm glad i read this thread as i was thinking of some of their stuff for the girlfriend.

I am lucky enough to have work pay for my RUKKA kit and THAT IS waterproof on the outside with a thermal liner. It is nearly 4 years old, has NEVER leaked and i only waterproof it by washing it in Nikwax wash every 6 months. It aint cheap, but it does what it says on the tin

I also have a BMW savanna 2 with the gortex liner, brilliant in the summer, but not used in the winter.

Aerostich also do a good suit or 2 peice. Not had a chance to try mine in the rain yet, but the goretex on that is within the outer lining

hope some of this helps

Richie

I've used a Tuareg jacket for the last 18 months in all sorts of nasty weather without getting wet.

The one I've got is their cheapo Rally Basic jacket which has their own Sheltex membrane built into the outer layer rather than relying on a detatchable Goretex insert which would automatically be taken out when the weather gets warm.

Best bit about it was it's cost- £89 and for 18 months hard use and still waterproof , I reckon thats great value.

It also has a detachable liner, but that is for warmth rather than waterproofing.

You don't have to buy the 'Top of the Range' items to necessarily get the best results.

It still looks OK after this time and I'm glad I didn't buy the trendier-looking but less practical versions with a waterproof insert.

That's OK in the desert but not so useful in Good Old Blighty.

I have a cunning plan.

All those with leaking Toerag jackets, wear them inside out next time it rains.

Wake me when you have the results zzzzzz

Tim:)

Hey Tim,
You need to get out more:-)

Oh Yes and if anyone is interested i recommend without reservation my YOKO Evolution. In 2000 we attended the Elephant, Krystall and Dragon Rallies on consecutive weekends. Perfectly waterproof, no draughts, comfy, in some absolutely diabolical weather. I even bought another after trashing my first one doing the Cambrian.

Tuareg Quandary

I believe that there are 2 types of Tuareg suit available from HG (well thats what the catalogue says :)

A summer suit, ventilated & only waterproof with the liner.

The 'normal suit' which is sweat tastic but is water proof, i.e. the outside doesn't leak (if that is english!).

I use a condura suit that is mostly waterproof, but sweaty as b**locks. I found that one of those liner suits (EDZ) does the trick both in my leathers & the waterproof get up.

Now I suspect that this will be the last entry on this thread, as I appear to have the ability to have people lose interest in a thread after I've posted..... Not a very useful super power :(

Hav fun,
Cit
