Dear All

Is there a special tool to remove the screw that secures the hand guard into the end of the handle bar?

I'm steadily going thru every A key I have, but most of them don't fit flushly.

Thanks in advance for useful info:thumb2

Superb - thx v much

Are these readily available @ high st DIY stores? (daft ? maybe):nenau

Aldi sometime stock cheapo T-handle sets.
Halfords have all you need at a price.

I have both T-handles & sockets but find I mainly use the T-handle set unless I want to torque something down.

I have THIS set from Machinemart. And they have one of their offer weekends coming up too. :thumb

Useful set, and the hex ones have ball-ends which make a real difference at getting on to some fiddly allen heads on things.

Don't forget to loctite the bolt back in. Use the blue loctite 243, the removable one and torque to specifications. If you don't have a torque wrench just be careful not to over tighten it.

Safe riding

....... and keep the torx bit in your on board tool bag. The first time I went to Watling tyres on the Sturry road, they couldn't remove the wheel because they didn't have that same Tx50 bit. :thumb

Torx key is now living in the tool kit :thumb2

Out of interest, what's your feedback on Watling Tyres..tyre range, pricing, service etc? (albeit they didn't have the torx key!)

love Watling tyres - never go anywhere else. BTW machinemart generally better range and prices than Halfords and the staff are more knowledgable

I have used the watling tyres in Chatham for many years, cos I know the guys there and they used to give me a good deal. (A2 Rainham Road, opposite the girls grammar school - used to live up there a few years ago..).

But I now live in Chartham. I popped into the Canterbury branch to get a slow puncture plugged. They were fine, plugged my puncture and plugged another get you home mushroom that I had put in a few weeks back and charged me about £21 !! Rather than bugger about going to Chatham every time I'll probably switch to them. The manager waxed lyrical about bikes and was very helpful. They seem a good bunch ...... :thumb2

Watling Tyres

Thanks chaps - I only live a couple of miles from the Canterbury branch, so will swing by & have a chat with them:D

I think you will find the Torx key for the bar ends is a T55 not a T50, certainly on an '07 it is anyway. A lot of sets go up to T50, my T55 was an extra!

cheers,
