Hello all, sorry another thread about top boxes but nees some help,

looking for a top box for an 07gs, but one that doesnt use the standard luggage rack, but uses a rack that sits lower down, to keep the centre or gravity a touch lower,
dont want to spend the moon on it and dont want it to look too out of place,
looking at the traxx top box on nn website but does this use the exsiting rack? or use a bike specific joby?
or givi? or do they use those wing rack type things?
also dont want the box to be too big as it,ll only be used when the mrs is on the back and for the longer tours/holidays away, so cant warrent spending £400 for the bmw vario,
any suggestions or advice would be brilliant
cheers,
jonyboy

Perhaps not the answer you're looking for : the Vario Topcase can be fixed instead of the pillion seat. The center of gravity pretty much stays the same then. That's the way I usually ride my bike, unless of course a pillion comes along. As prices go, have a look at fleabay.

I went with pelican and hattech, but cost me quite a lot
If I had to do it again, would maybe consider this:

the rack is H&B universal

and with their new top box

Does it have to be a box? Why not have a look at Ventura packs - outstandingly practical gear IMHO!

Doesnt have to be a box but like the whole security side of having hard luggage, being able to lock it up and walk away from the bike and not have to worry about it, and the mrs wants something to rest lean back on on the longer journeys, seriously thinking about the traxx top box, but my old man has an old 1150gs bmw top box going spare and was thinking of bastardising a rack to fit both the box and the bike, any thoughts?

Ventura.

Yeah, they're good, I've used 'em a long time ago. Best thing about it was being to have the rack turned round so the bag sat over the pillion seat/rear wheel.

But no good if you want to leave your bits for any length of time on the bike while you go for a stroll, especially in a city and can't be left out in the rain (Unless you're into NikWax'g).
