A while ago on here I saw a picture of a GSA with the top box mounted in a forward position ie closer to the rider

It also gave details of how to move it

does any one know where I can find it:confused:

I seem to remember it was on a red GSA

I have tried the search thingy watsit without success

So in this instance, search button is NOT my friend

Take the rear seat off, take the carrier for the top box off the rear rack and fit in the position of the rear seat, simples :thumb2

Easy enough to do but why anyone would want to is beyond me

I sometimes carry an extra small lockable case instead of the rear seat and have the Givi topbox as well.

The setup uses a Hattech SoloMount plate with a Pelican Case bolted to it

You could fit a large case however you need to watch out for how the lid on the Pelican and the lid on the topbox case open so that you can still use them easily.
I kind of find the gap I left between the cases useful for strapping things like tripods and bottles of wateretc

Yes, it's a cut-down topbox. Clever, eh ?

Not my idea though.

Nice set up...What size is the box ?

Could you tell me what model the box is, 1300, 1400 or 1450

Regards

Nigel

It's a 1300

Note if you put the Pelican sideways on the Solo Mount, you could get a larger one on - would still need care for the top-box lid opening however.

Also I vaguely remember having to do a small mod with a file and a can of silver paint (to the Solo Mount) as it wasn't designed to fit with the Givi Rack and the bolts on the Givi rack slightly fouled on the plate position.

Oh and before you drill holes to mount the case - work out where the gaps in the rubber strips on the rear seat carrier of the GS are so that you can get the bolt heads between them. The holes I drilled in the bottom of the Pelican I then sealed with Silicon sealer that I applied just before tightening the bolts up.

Thanks for the reply - appreciated

Many Thanks

Will go for the set up, as I need a more secure place to put my bike to bike radio and this looks an ideal set up. Will let you know how I get on

Regards

Nigel
