I have a standard BMW Top Box for my 1200. I would like to add a cargo net to the top of the box as I usually carry a pillion.

I use the bike quite a bit and the top box is pretty much on the bike at all times --- through all types of weather.

I would like to do this mod but would welcome advice from avid DIY experts on the best way to do this so that the box maintains a high probability of being as waterproof as it is today.

I have a second box that is useless now due to a mate having a close encounter with it a few months ago (bloody Hornets and their crap brakes!) so I will be able to have a trial run.

I want to take my tim over this and not do a botch job so therefore I have turned to the forum for help.

A similar mod can be seen at the following link.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers Tuned!

Anywhere a little bit more local? I want to have this ready for Lahinch in 5 days time and I doubt that they will be able to ship theirs to me in time.

Are you going by the way?

You can then use these with Rok Straps like this:-

Then you can add a bigger tent to keep the wife happy like this:-

I've actually sat on the top box and I'm 100Kg so it's a really strong structure.

Both Nippy Norman and Touratech sell the Rok Straps. The ones pictured her are the Motorbike "StrapIt" and are 1400mm long with loop ends. These hold your items really well as they have an elasticated section.

The photo shows a Khyam Freelander tent and fitted groundsheet in the Ortleib Dry Bay. I carry the poles on top of my Jesse panniers. I only carry the tent in the Dry bag but it is quite a large tent. You would have plenty of room for a sleeping bag.
