My gearbox has recently started to feel very slow and "sticky" when trying to change gear quickly, especially down, so I thought I'd investigate...

Turns out it was nothing to do with the Gearbox at all, but the linkage system. After removing the linkage where it bolts behind the LH peg hanger, cleaning and regreasing, it's a good as new :)

I discovered the same on my GS which had been used all through the winter. A squirt of WD40 cured it, but Bath Road stripped down the linkage at the 6K service last week and it is now really sweet. Best of all they did it under warranty.

Had the same on my Adv.

Recently fitted toutatech lower footpegs, which come with a new gear shift lever, and greased the linkage. Now the shiftings sweet as a nut!!!

It be the time of year !!!

I had exactly the same problem last weekend. Started panicing about big gearbox rebuild bills but a couple of sqirts of WD40 and it's as good as new!:D

U had the same with my '98 thundercat.

Once learned, forever forgotten - until someone reminds you!
