Hi Folks, i am thinking of fitting a Givi topbox complete with brake lights, does anybody have any experience of doing this job.
Obviously there is the canbus wiring to take into account and how will i connect to the wiring loom ?.:reynolds

Experience with the box, but not on a R12...

The Givi-supplied light modules which were fitted (I have the Maxia E52) were very very very cheaply made, and the connection between the mount plate and box was crap too which I had to sort out a few times. Definitely not worth the amount I paid new for them.

The bulbs are also non-replaceable and pretty flimsy fit if I'm honest. It's also a bit of a faf to get them fitted correctly.

I concur with the above, I had the maxia 52 and paid for the brake light kit as well. The build is terrible, bulbs are on wires that look as thin as a human hair, the rubber seals were too short and the moulded chanels in the box that the seal sits in were badly moulded and you have to hack the box about cutting the blanking plates out. The connection on the top plate is shocking, you have to knock out a circle in the plate and fit the cinnector, this then just falls out and had to be superglued in place.

Your electrical system is irrelevant, you just connect to earth and the rear brake wire

My advice would be dont bother

I wired my givi straight in to the rear light, no problems with the can-bus. 07 GSA.

I had a similar experience on an older bike (not a GS), the top box lights were not reliable because of the cheap connectors between box and mount plate - didn't bother fitting the same technology when I changed bikes.
