I was looking at the rack thing on the 1200GS today and wondered if anyone has fitted a Givi Maxia 52 on their bike. Doesn't look too good to me.

I have

I've fitted an E52 maxia to my 1200GS, and it looks surprisingly good, cavernous space, and with the backrest added it offers superb support for pillions too.

I use it in conjunction with the BMW OEM Panniers and the looks are fine and dandy... will IMO anyway...

I don't have a pic with the box on, but when i do, i'll post it if you've not already seen one.

Stu.

Thanks Stu, I wondered about the structural integrity of it rather than the aesthetics. Is it well fixed?

Givi E52

Hi Shenzi
Ive got an E52 on my 1200, looks fine, takes 2 helmets, no change to stability, Her (indoors) finds it fine, 100 times better than previous o.e. box. Mike.
P.S. If anything its a better fixing than the oe , even the rear brace does not need you to hack at the tail bodywork!

Try the V46 on the Monorack. Perfect size and fit and looks pretty good too!!

Not to worry..........I'm sure it looks good on lesser machines too!;)

Is that a 52 or 46? Any regrets since? tempted to go for the Givi topbox and system panniers. Currently using system everything but like the idea of helmets being stashed in the topbox.

I have a 46l Givi box, great bit of kit holds two lids or two big bags of qwik save shopping, no problems with the ride and solid as a rock.

Thanks for the info - where abouts in North Wales are you? I come from Rhuthun originally. Make the trip up from Swansea every other month or so, hence my name.

This is the E460 with brake light, backrest and lid rack...

It's the 52, like a tardis inside, swallows 2 helmets no problem,

my wife just looked at the pic and her reaction was  UGLY !

she said forgettaboutit..... just her .02 SHE IS THE BIG BOSS !

Plenty info here on Givi boxes. But does anyone know if Hepco & B do a plate for their gear and the 1200. I am loathed to sell a perfectly good box, especially in light of some of the criticisms of BM's topbox for the 1200.

H&B do a plate but it requires cutting a bit off the bodywork, stencil supplied with kit.
