Having tested the WC, loving it & having the cash on hip to snap one up, I am tossing & turning every night at my own impatience to have a new bit of blingy tat in my shallow little existence.

Problem is, I already own the finest & most reliable GS ever built, and this as you very well know is the mighty R1200GS Twin Cam. A fine example of this iconic masterpiece with a mere youthful 10,000 miles on the clock.
A Bavarian beefcake that sat on the back seat of the school bus smoking a fag cuz he was the hardest kid in the school.

The Wasserthing may be the Journalists bitch now, but I am determined to hang on to my bike until the 14 plate comes out, as it's a fantastic machine retaining much of the character of the older Gs's

So I plead with you to help me keep an old lady out of the nursing home for another year by continuing to post up your niggles & frustrations with the bike & BMWs apathy to deal with them.
Software issues I find comforting, as does corrosion and shoddy build quality.

Obviously, show stoppers are the icing on the cake & any photo of your stricken Toilet being loaded onto the trailer would be greeted with much glee & sniggering

As you were ....

:thumby:

Nope, no issues with mine, other than it seems to want to be ridden lots, and loves drinking petrol (in the normal way, there isn't a leak:D):beerjug:

Here's a picture to help you make up your mind:JB

Mmm, modern!

I know the feeling, every time I call at my local dealers I have to stop myself talking to the sales staff :blagblah

Ok, sorry.:thumb I had a major problem yesterday, as the tyre pressure in the front tyre had dropped by 2psi. This bike is an unreliable heap of shite, I tell you.:rob:D

There not only as unreliable as a atomic clock (hope I'm not going to regret saying that) but there are shit loads around now, common as muck....

You stick to that old bus and enjoy it in the slow lane, and have no worries the 11x00 boys are coming to welcome you in to their "oh it's really not in keeping with the true tradition of the GS like our 11x00's and the.... 1200's is it....blarr blarr blarr....) fold.

I'm sure you won't lose any more "sleeps" over it..........

If you want more speed on tap, get a new one

If not, why bother if your existing bike is fairly new? Get some use out of it

I normally change my bikes after 5 years or so and my GSA is nearly 4 years old so should just be in time for the new LC version next year :D

Stay with the old dog and leave the top dog to those who can handle them :drool

That's more like it! :hug

I just couldn't bear to part with another 1200 Hexhead without blowing at least 1 FPC, final drive or ring antenna.

I have had my bike 2 days and 500 klms. I also own a 2011 Ducati Multi. I ove the ride on the Ducati but the more I ride the GSE the more I just think this is such a well worked out machine. Great riding presence , good handling , enough power and excellent ergonomics.

I compared the KTM , Ducati and GS, rode all of course and even though I was torn towards the KTM I know the BM is the best in class at the moment.

I just can't wait to ride this bike , and this makes me realise how good it is when you have that feeling of needing to get on your bike like I did 40 years ago !

Like wise, the only thing that has really put me off is the 6th gearing. I kept trying to change up looking for another gear. Maybe you get used to it.
But it was the same thing on my LandRover TD5 and I never got used to it. It needed 6 gears and not 5. I think the LC needs 7 gears not 6. My 1200 GS adventure is much more relaxed at higher speeds.

Maybe the adventure will have higher gearing, maybe I'm an old fart.

Oh and the clunky first gear, what is that all about. Every time I put it in first gear it jumped forward or clonked. It would drive me crazy in traffic. I suppose you could hold in the wet plate clutch instead as wouldn't smell like mine does.

Apart from that it was fabulous and I must not go in a showroom again
