Left rainy UK through tunnel on Sat 5th July down to Chalons et Champagne for the first night and it rained most of the day. Never mind onwards towards Annecy keeping to the left of the lake:
then on to Crest Volland nr Flumet for the next 2 nights, again rained most of that day, anyway next day easy day exploring so rode around the area
weather started to pick up in the afternoon and was warm and sunny by the end of the day taking in the beers on the balcony of the hotel looking at the mountains.
Day 4 down the Route Napolean as far as Castallane and then stopped for 2 nights at Moustiers Ste Marie, weather got better and better
Again rest day so just bimbled around the Gorge de Verdon taking in the views in 30+ degrees
Perfect riding gear, shorts, T shirt and sandals
Next day on towards Millau (dressed properly now and it touched 34degrees, thank goodness for Revit vented dakar trousers and jackets, lavender fields a plenty along with sunflowers, very nice and fragrant
Stopped for a break and saw this in original condition
First site of the bridge
Next day north west towards Poiters passing through Gorge de Truyere
Stopping overnight at http://www.bikers-bb-barn.com/ with Kevin Lindsey owner of GS1150 and thoroughly recommend it
Last day in france up to Caen, passed some time at Pegasus Bridge
before overnight boat to Portsmouth and ride home Sunday 13th, mileage 2250, bike now clean and spotless once again roll on next year!!
