Heading over Peaks general area toward the end of the month, just wondering if there's anyone about for a ride around, couple of basic lanes, etc. Nothing too complicated, I'm only a noob offroad :D

I'm overnighting somewhere in the area on the 25th April so if there's anyone up for it on either 25th or 26th let me know. About time I met some of you tossers.

I would be delighted to be your tour guide. Ive lived in the Peak District all my life so i know it really well. Know a couple of lads who could sort out some Green Laneing.
Regards
Bob Barnett

Mick showed me around last month and I built a route from the Sat Nav Track back feature

Excellent, I'll be loading that into the crusty old streetpilot shortly.

Great Bob, thanks very much. Hopefully a few more might decide to tag along so we can make a bit of a day of it :)

Garmin route

Just come across this and thought I'd try and put it on my Zumo. Past experience tells me things like that never seem to work however I gave it a go and connected my gps to the usb. I copied the file to the GPX folder in the zumo. Double clicked it and boom! up came the map with the track on it. Very impressed and very pleased, thank you.
I wonder if there are any other similar files out there for the peaks. The route seems to have a lot more road work than I prefer. Not sure if they are legal or not but many of the trails I use regularly are missed out, good long ones too!
For example, half way up the Ladybower road the is a great trail leading off from a car park on the left just after a cattle grid. If you follow the trail up over the top and thru a small gate you get to a point where you can turn right down another trail that comes out at the end of the road marked closed on Sundays, Or you can turn left and the trail winds down and comes out on the Snake, go straight over and that leads onto Dead Sheep Hill at the top of which is Hope Cross, turn right there and it leads all the way past Win hill and comes out in Hope opposite the turn for Pindale quarry.
So, that trail takes you all the way from Derwent water to Hope, a good few miles with only about 20 feet of tarmac where you cross over the snake!

Easiest way I found to do it was to load it into MapSource so you can view the route, then transfer it from MapSource to the Unit.

As for that particular route it was a "beginners" guide that Mick took me round, which I loved 70% was tarmac roads indeed but the views were spectacular and all were mainly "A" narrow lanes with some good off road tracks for the likes of me !

I wouldn't know about the route you are talking about but it sounds interesting, you should get it marked onto MapSource !!! lol

Anyway I would love to get together on a monthly basis on the peak and start sharing tracks and routes, whilst the weather is getting good.
