Its time for some new boots,

I know that we had a tyre thread a while back, but the PR4's were new out which hadn't given much time for feedback. My choice is Tourance Next's or PR4's. I'm not bothered about having giving an off-road bike look, as like most on here I ride on tarmac, so I'm wanting good wet and dry grip on tarmac only.

Good wear characteristics would be a nice bonus!

Riders with these tyres, your comments please?

pr4s for me plenty of grip i ride steady away with the missis on the back and quite spirited when i go out with my mates they turn in a lot quicker which is a bonus
can't comment on life yet i have only done around a thousand miles on them

Find my Tourance tyres great in the dry but pretty poor in the wet. When they come up for change I will be looking for something else.

I had NEXT on my last bike, and wouldn't get them again (very fast to wear, not particularly good in the wet). I'll try PR4's next time round, when I change my Anakee 3's.

Replaced Nexts with PR4's. The Next's are designed as dual purpose whereas the PR4 is a pure road tyre and an excellent one at that. Done nearly 1000 mile since the change and love them. Superb in the dry and even better in the wet. I don't intend riding a £14K bike off road and cannot see the point of fitting compromise tyres just in case. The PR4 makes a great bike even better.

I love the PR3's on my 2010 RT and the PR4's are supposed to be better.....what is there not to like? :D

Had PR4's fitted to the GSA (Twin Cam) at the weekend when it was in for a service, got a couple of hundred miles on them and happy so far, most of those miles where in heavy rain and right from the off where confidence inspiring than the exp's they replaced. If you are a road monkey like myself, I don't think you can go wrong with PR4's

I have Anakees on my bike originally fitted by BMW. 5100 miles and looking good. I have noticed a lot of road noise from these in the UK. I have cursed the French and asked why they do not test them fully and avoid this noise. The answer is they do, 2100 on French roads and the noise is almost gone, only to return once home in the UK.
No slips or slides but still changing to Tourance when its time.

I find Tourance Nexts good in the wet - and love the way they feels wet or dry, everyone has their favorites so advice is very very subjerctive.

I am running Next and need new tyres before a hard weekends riding next weekend. The Next have been on over 6000 miles and have worn well. They are still quite legal but the rear is horribly square. I have been very happy with them - but - I had PR3's on my last bike, and my son has PR4's on his, and on balance I think their wet grip performance will swing me to put them on the GS in favour of the Next this time.

I like the conti trial attack that bike came with.. (I know, I must be the only one) 3200miles & not stupid amounts of wear, & lots of reasonably hard acceleration.. Just been out in a downpour for 50 miles & was confident of the tyres.. I'm happy chappie.!!
On previous twin cam GSA I had Tourance EXP then back to the original EX.. The grip on the EXP was very good in the wet, & the dry, must be a soft compound as rear only lasted 3.5k miles, front did 7k..
Fitted the harder EX & rear lasted 7.5k & the front 10k..
Had a few moments during the life of the EX's & wouldn't suggest a hard long lasting tyre on the WC unless you don't twist that throttle thing too much on bendys..

Why use anything else but pure road tyres if you never go off road? The tourances/next/annakees and what ever else are a poor compromise for road use. I run roadsmart 2 . Very confidence inspiring in dry or wet. Wouldnt dream of putting anything else on other than sport touring rubber. Try it you"ll like it.

Happy, Have you fitted the 'trail' version or pure sports/tourer, can you get the front in a normal PR4 or are we restricted to the 'Trail'?

Can someone please enlighten me as to why this post has been moved, just so that I'll be aware of what not to do in the future. I see that the previous tyre thread post by Krytengs ran for well over a month where as my post which was getting some immediate good postings was moved within about 12 hours?

Slightly confused!

Because it's a tyre thread, and isn't just relative to the LC.:rob Most people that have replied don't own the LC, so the section it's been moved to is more appropriate.;)

Its only called the trail version due to the wheel size, the tread pattern etc are exactly the same, obviously the gt has a harder compound but exactly the same pattern.

Ive had nxt's - ank3 - attacks on the wc, but the pr4 are in a different league, very confident inspiring, and there's no more humming sound.
