Recently changed the tyres on my bike (1999 R1100GS) from standard (not EXP etc) Tourances to Trail Attack 2's.

Now seem to have lost a bit of confidence in both wet and dry with the change, the Tourances needed changing, well worn, but still inspired confidence, just don't get the same feedback from the TA2's.

Anyone else had a similar experience? or is it just me and a need to man up :D

Pressures 33 front and 36 rear, as were the Tourances

Curiosity and all that.

Wear em out and go back to tourances which work brilliantly with the bike and offer all the grip you need.

I'll use em for as long as they make em, never seen any point in changing as they are more than enough to make effective progress.

Try fitting some of the old trail wings, they were feckin lethal!!! They would make tyres made out of Teflon seem grippy.

I've just ended a two year affair with Trail Attacks following a previous 12 years with Tourance as my road tyre choice on 1150s.

I has no issues with confidence on the TA but seemed to have more punctures then a split side wall did it for me, put a Tourance on and it's like being back home again :beerjug:

Now you've got them on ... give 'em a chance. Tyre makes are quite different from one another and often they have very different characteristics. Some grip like glue but when they go ... bang they go. Others move about a bit, squirm slip and slide but always let you know what they're doing.

I put some Trail attacks on a few years ago for an abroad trip and hated them at first! They white lined in the wet like nothing I'd used before, every bit of overbanding or change of surface they had a little shimmy. But .... soon got used to it.

See how yer feel in 6 months .... :thumb

Changed from Tourance (original) to TAs three years back, TAs have been brilliant. Stick like superglue wet or dry, never had any white-lining or problems with overbanding. Last pair have done 11k miles, and still have another thousand left in them (I put my spare wheels on fitted with TKC80s, but that's another story).

You sound to be running them a bit soft for my liking, try putting your pressures up and giving them a go. I run mine at 36(F) and 42(R).

Dave.

Trail Attacks are the best road tyres I've had on my bike: Feel dead neutral bank to bank, smooth as ...., grippy wet or dry.

:rob

I'm a Tourance man, but most of you would have guessed that already

I can remember Metzeler Enduro 4's too:rob

Anakee 2, best tire I ever have had on any bike, and best wet grip on a tyre for me so far.
