I ordered this on Tuesday and it arrived today! Originally had the RAM mount but, I use the bike off road and have a trip planned to Morocco next year so needed something to absorb some of the the shock to the GPS unit . The small bar fits onto the handlebar mounting bolts, then the GPS bracket fits onto that rather than a cross bar.

Whats that small clock to the left of the speedo ? looks like a temperature guage of some sort?

I'm not sure. It would depend on how high the bag is and how far forward the tankbag mounts on the tank.

I am thinking of getting one of these for my SP111, are you happy with it? Also, what size and type of socket did you use to remove the original handlebar bolts?
Thanks

There's an SPIII Touratech bracket on ebay at the moment. The only thing I'm not sure about is how far it stands off the handlebar mount. I'm leaning towards getting one of the motorrad concept brackets so its in your field of view.

For road use I think there very good. You can more or less position the unit extactly where you want to and it's really easy to do. Halfords do the sockets needed to change the handlebar bolts. I'm not positive but, I think it was a Number 8 socket and their 1/4 drive.

Mine stands somewhere between about 1/2" to 3" from the bar depending on where you want to set it. There are three different sizes of connector, the part that connects one ball joint to the other with the lock nut in the middle (see pic's above) So you can pretty much custom fit to your needs.

Yes it's a thermometer for measuring ambient temperature.
