Anyone got those touratech bags that fit on the adventure tank side bars ? are they any good ? has anyone got some that they would like to sell me !

I've got a pair. Not waterproof, not a great deal of storage space, don't put anything hard in them if you're in the habit of falling over :)
Otherwise not a bad place to stuff some small extras.

I use mine loads.

Easy access spaces, but remember that they're not secure if you're leaving the bike anywhere.

:) Wunderlich do them as well, they ARE waterproof (ortleib supply them) and are cheaper than TT ones.
other than that as others have said above, I have tow strap and all sorts of unimportant stuff in mine.

The 'Wunderlich' ones are sided and priced each , so makes them more expensive than the TT ones, but they are waterproof!
Gonna get some, probably TT, for those little items that dont need to be too safe etc

Yup, just checked and you are right , but only just eh ?

TT ones are £87.44 and the Wunderlich ones are £92 for the pair so thats only a difference of £4.56 for waterproof Ortlieb bags;)
The Wunderlich ones have gone up in price quite a bit since I got mine, they were loads cheaper than TT at the time:)

I have the TT ones. They are very useful for holding spare gloves and rain gear. Simple to remove as well. I usually just dump them in the panniers when I'm away. I have inner bags for the panniers so dump the TT one there for the night. Saves having to put wet rain gear back into the panniers.

Keep straps water proof trousers and things like that in them :thumb2

I've got a brand new Touratech 35L one; in fact I think it's still got the price tag on it. If your interested, it's yours for the price I paid for it - I'll carry the cost of the postage.

No problem if you're not interested, I'll just stick it on e-bay.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Surmanator, but I've a question for MickF regarding the "inner bags for the panniers" mentioned. I bought my 06 GSA second hand with BM panniers but no inner bags and haven't been able to find them anywhere. Did yours come complete or did you get the inner bags separately and, if so, where? Thanks in advance. MJ

BuMW dealers sell them. Whoever would have thought of that?

Failing that, Google: BMW 1200 inner bags (or something equally inventive) and see what comes up.

Here's one I made earlier http://www.maneevent.org.uk/bmw.htm

or use a bin bag.

BMW bag for GSA top box (looks like its made by Ortlieb) and the beautifully made and designed Kriega bags for the panniers. I bought the Kriega bags when I had Zega panniers but they fit the GSA boxes as well.

Back to thread. I have the TT crash bar bags. Useful for bits but I don't put anything expensive or hard in them. A = don't want to break expensive kit if the bike's dropped. B = I don't want hard contents to push into expensive bike bits if I drop drop the bike. OK for gloves, etc. that are easy to get to when riding. Straps are a bit of a sod to fit after washing bike.

Wopping - Doh! You're right, fair do's. Though BMW dealer here just looks blank and anyway would probably double the price if they could be bothered to source them.
But thanks for the steer and link.
A bin bag... hmm, probably do the job just as well, or maybe a collection of sturdy supermarket carrier bags which could double-up to keep wet gear separate or suspend food off the ground or suffocate sarcastic smart@rses...

andyclift - Thanks to you too. The Kriega bags are superb but are they suitable for the left panier on a GSA as they're not shaped to suit the stepped interior to allow for the can? Wopping's suggested 'maneevent' version does have this, though they do look lower quality. I guess you pays your money and takes your choice.

Back on thread, the TT crash bar bags seem to suit the style of the bike better but the Wunderlich ones look more streamlined and neater. Ah, decisions...
