I have an F800GS and having had a 1200 rather miss the fog lamps and how much more visible to traffic they make you.

Has anyone fitted them to their bike and if so which did you fit, the plain fogs or splash out for the Xenon?

if your not riding much at night dont bother with the xenon units as they are a suppliment for the main beam.. too harsh as riding lights.

i would recommend the foglamps as they are easy to fit and reliable but hold out there kimosabe as soon to arrive will be the new led fog lamps .. so keep em peeled and they are the babies to get when they come in!!!

Thanks for both your replies. I do ride a bit at night and want to avoid the 'Oh! I didn't see you' excuse so fog lamps may do the trick.

Unless you're in low visibility conditions rather than just "at night", fog lamps will dazzle on coming trafic and you're more likely to be the cause of an accident. If you want to be seen at night rather than have extra lights to see by (two different things), then get something else other than fogs.

Paddy,

I have been looking at these for the past few months, two options I came up with are:

For visibility to other road users I would go for the LED day running lights as chas has highlighted.

If you want xenon fogs then I would go for the Hella micro DE (about £75) get some HID upgrades from the bay :) (about £35) and if desired get some protective covers I think they are on the Rugged Roads website for about £45.
the conversion to Hid guide is on one of the forums just search under the Hella upgrade.
Not bad when you compare the prices that ready made sets cost! And you can have one as standard and one upgraded if you want. Ie one always on with lo output and one Hid with main beam.

Hope this helps

Paul

Hi there

Just seen your thread about putting fog lights on the 800, this is what I did with mine and I must say it looks great, but thats my opinion.
