Anyone fitted the new HID main beam replacement unit yet??
I just got off the phone to Nick at Touratech in South Wales (top bloke), he used it on Dakaar and reckons it fixes all ills. Apparently he's got a demo bike down there, anyone nearby fancy popping in to check it out on our collective behalf?
I'll be honest I'm seriously tempted - but nigh on £300 is a lot to splash out compared to £60 odd quid for the Hella option.

Cheers Jim

You can probably do it for half that if you go to HID Online

Cost me about £180 when I split a car kit with another S owner but due to the weakening dollar they're nearer £150 now.

I haven't got around to fitting it yet but looks simple enough.

Oh, and I've only gone for the low beam option as high beam is pretty good already.

If you ordered it from America and you went for the dipped beam option then wouldn't it tilt the other way?

Surely you jest...?

A bulb is a bulb, it's the lens that directs the beam. The most important part as far as I understand is focal length to ensure the correct light spread is achieved.

Checked out the site

It looks pretty good for what it is, ie a replacement bulb service. Don't get me wrong, definitely gonna improve things but unlike you I think the main beam is not much better than a paraffin lamp. When riding the lanes at night it's literally blind guesswork on right handers. . net I believe an HID conversion of the bulb alone will not increase the spread of light which is controlled by the lens and reflector profile.
Talking to Nick Plumb at Touratech he assures me their system has addressed this issue and gives a wider spread.

We shall see.

I'll be interested in how you get on with your dip conversion.

Cheers Jim

Fair point, the S may have a better high beam.

I've seen a couple of S' fitted with the HID's but only in daylight. I'm told the transformation is well worth it, especially if you want to make some progress at night.

In case you didn't realise HID online are only in Cheshire, the $ pricing is just to confuse you :)

Well its worked. If they are based in Cheshire how does the £ against the weakening $ affect anything.

There's an option to change the currency to GBP£ but I know the prices have come down since I bought before Xmas.

It might be worth calling them. Delivery in th UK is free as well.
