and this as well...
I want to get some pannier rails for my F650 Dakar. Who makes the better rails, Hepco & Becker or Touratech? I know most of you have the larger GS's but I'd still like to hear your opinions on build quality and strength etc.
I don't know if Vern did any for this model but it doesn't seem like that's an option for the forseeable future.
Cheers :beerjug:

Have you asked the question on Trevors 650 site ?

Bound to get lots of replies/opinions/advice there :thumb

imho

i like the hepco and bekers as they lock in place and appear studier.. and are a tad cheaper than the touratech..
morocco and back without a hitch torrential rain in the uk heat in africa not a leak or squeek. in the end its gonna be down to your personal choice..

ps there are other types of pannier available too..

Hi Al,

I thought your bike already had pannier rails fitted, the BWM ones as I recall.
Are these no good?

Hi Paul,
no they were removed before I got the bike.

Hi Jon, I haven't asked at Trevors site yet as I figured this place would give a wider range of experience of general build quality overall for all models.

Hi Slimbo, cheers for the opinion. Are you talking about the panniers themselves or the rails or both?

Anyone else?

Cheers!:D

BMW pannier rails only fit BMW panniers, which having had on a 650, I wouldn't get again.

I know there's a couple of people with Touratech, Hepco & Becker etc on Trevors site, only reason I suggested it.

So nobody else has an opinion?
Forget that it's for a 650GS, I would just like some general opinions from people who have experience of both makes.

I had some Hepco & Becker boxes once and obviously
the pannier frames, well made,
but a bitch to fit, kinda bend it like Beckham
