Does anyone knoe if you can transfer the panniers for bike to bike (from a 650GS to an 1150GS for example) with out having to redrill the mounting points. I know that you need a new frame but i'm not sure about the rest.

I'm afraid you will end up with panniers at a funny angle.

And the 650 is pretty much symmetrical, but the 1150 is not, because of the exhaust.
So on an 1150 you can mount:
a. two panniers of the same size, but the left one with a cutout for the exhaust,
or
b. a small one on the left and a big one on the right.

But I would post the question on the Touratech support forum, you'll get definite answers there.

Cheers,
Michel

I'm currently building my own with aluminium welding. From 2.5mm strenghtened aluminium (TT's are 1.5mm, nonstrenghtened). Let's see how expensive it will be - most materials i got 35£ now per 2 panniers - 41L & 34L (it's 140£ per one TT pannier :D), that will not increase much with locks and stuff for panniers. I'll build my own stronger rack too very probably.

Mo, still think's most of known Al pans are on sky high prices in the market - should i bring some real competition into the market with 2.5mm and around 100£ costing high-tec panniers, eh? :D
