Will finally have my 1100 sorted by the weekend as long as the gearbox slips back in with no issues.

I`ll be shipping it out to the US in a couple of weeks so it needs a day or two`s shakedown so I can make sure it won`t fall apart at the first sign of mud and dirt on the Trans America Trail.

Anyone fancy a bimble on some fire tracks at the weekend? I was thinking of the tracks we did in the winter when I binned my 1200:augie They would be pretty close to the roads I`ll be on next month.

Would love to chap - but I don't get back from the States till August 6th. If you haven't gone by then, we should sort a ride, beer or both :beerjug:

Me too

Would anybody mind if I said hello and bought my XTZ850 for a quick try out, albeit slowly and with a worn out back tyre (Desert) - getting my excuses in early you see !

would be nice to meet some midlanders and either sat or sun would be great for me

cheers

Rich, that would be no problem.

I`m just looking at some routes that I`ve been on in mid wales. I don`t want difficult stuff because it`s a shakedown for the bike and as others will tell you, spend a lot of time on my ass in the tough stuff:D

When I`ve identified a route I`ll post back on here.

Where was that firetrack where I had the little incedent with the ditch?:augie

Can`t quite remember where it was but that`s the one I want to test the old girl on because it`s fairly similar to the Trans America Trail.

Hi Chris!

It'll be easier to show you on a map, working at Northwick Manor School tomorrow, you're more than welcome to pop in (if your in Worcs), otherwise pop round to house tomorrow night. To make a loop I know a fairly easy :augie lane around a dam

Chris that will be perfect - if you look in the Other bikes bit, you will see that ,y bike has just had a frame up rebuild.

I've done 150 road miles since and just changed the oil last night

So some gentle graded gravel roads will be just brilliant to see if I can shake anything loose

cheers

I'm very tempted but I don't think this weekend is good for me. Sunday is definately out.
I'd like to take in that reservoir route sometime.

Give me a call Friday evening 07766554069.

Is the pic of the end of that route by the Claerwen Dam? Whenever we go out that way we always look at it and think what a great ride it would be but were never sure of the legality of riding it:nenau

Is it a fairly easy ride? I'd love to have a go at it but we're complete novices and don't want to get unstuck! I presume it would be suitable for a 650 dak and an old 100 PD?

Can't make it this weekend but I'll keep my eye on this section for next time.

Rich

Me and Richey roo headed up to the hills and had a really great day! Rode from the Elan Vallen down to Llandovery mostly on forest tracks. Thanks for the route Paul. We even managed to find some muddy water....:thumb

Rich rolled up on his fantastic Yamaha Super Tenere with a TDM 850 lump nailed in. Great bike and the sound is awesome. Will be looking forward to ssing the beast out on the track more often.

Gtand day out

A grand day out Sarge, thank you very much for showing me the way round

Great trails, nice roads inbetween, and amazingly we didn't see another bike out on any of the offroad sections during the whole of the day. (Except for some ancient old bloke riding a Suzuki Burgman (?) Scooter thing in the middle of nowhere, no helmet, just bimbling along - he seemed happy enough)

The XTZ850 performed brilliantly considering it was a shakedown run - the 270 degree engine is just perfect for off road, loads of low down and midrange grunt and it seems to hook up like an 850 single. Discovered that the front wheel rubs on the back of the front mudguard on full compression but other than that it seems to be fully sorted from the start. Happy days.

Have a safe trip in The US Chris, and can't wait for the next trip to Wales.

Cheers

Richey

I've laned around there alot but never besides that res, because we looked at the gate in 2005 and it had a lock on it, never thought to check again:eek:
