Unfortunately, my Transit has decided that my new year shouldn't start well.
The crankshaft's f***ed. Time for a new engine.

There appear to be a number of breakers apparently specialising in transits, particularly around Longford / Monaghan.
Does anybody have any knowledge of these guys? Who to avoid? Who's got a good reputation? :nenau

Give Fergus McAllenan a ring

He is in Newry =+442830834802 (work) +447719204147 (Mobile)
He spends his entire life rebuilding/selling the damn things.

The 2.2 Transit engine , is not one of Fords best efforts .
The 2011 Transit was/is the subject of a recall , there is a problem with the oil pump ,
ford are replacing the pump with a higher output unit. The Standard pump starved the engine of oil , the turbo was usually first to get hit , then the usual ensuing mess associated with turbo failure . You get the jist ! ...There is another problem with
these engines , the ECU is directing the Fuel pump to send too much fuel to the
injectors ,which is burning at the Top of the cylinder causing all kinds of nastiness ! ! ..
Any how , Ford are warranting a lot of these engine failures . This { Ford dealer} should be your
first port of call .
Ford N.I. replaced an oil pump on a 2011 transit minibus for me , and remapped the
ecu to try and allay the ecu problem ..
If you have used the correct oil , 5W30 fully synth , and preferably Ford low ash , and
can prove it ,, you could be on . ? . Maybe .
The first thing to do is establish why your engine has failed . Ford will tell you when you roll up to the door . You must be sure of this before you fit another motor .
I would ONLY BUY from an engine Remanufacturer that is going to
Warrant the Engine . The Engine will have to be remapped by Ford , to suit the
Bus , I have tried and cannot find anyone else that can do this and warrant it.

There are lots of 2.2 transits up and down the country with knackered motors,
DO NOT BUY one from a breaker . Unless your hear it running listen carefully. If you take any advice
HEED THIS .

Thanks, Civil.
That's very interesting.
Mine's a 2.4. Does the above apply or is it only the 2.2?

Blackchurch Motors in Dublin is a bit of a tranny (no laughing down the back) specialist.

Thank you. :thumb2

2.2 & 2.4 are much the same.

I thought the oil pump issue affected the euro 5 variant (steel spin on oil filter, big black plastic fuel filter housing, dpf, electronic turbo control & different injection sustem) for which there is a recall for, maybe it affected the later euro 4 versions too?
As I understood it, the oil pump can suddenly & unexpectedly fail, soon to be followed with the rest of the engine......

I can't say for the euro 5s but certainly the euro 4 engines are generally solid - if they are hunting at tickover, noisy/knocky under load it's a sign that they are misfuelling, generally, a new prv on the fuel rail & scv (aka fmv) on the pump then get them programmed & injectors coded at Ford. They don't remap them as such.

Engines that run rough will eventually chuck a rod or crack a piston.

Progress eh.....

Used blackchurch motors for my 08 transit well pleased with price and work done

Just seen this thread, there is a transit breakers on the N55 between Edgeworthstown and Granard. Apparently travellers and although I've not been there myself - yet, several have recommended them?
Don't know their contact details but if ur still looking pm me and I'll call in

Te FWD 2010 and 2011 models have major problems out of a batch of 12 we had at work at least 9 blew up their motors in a very spectacular way (all between 110,000 and 125,000)

They dropped injector nozzles pumped raw fuel into the motor and then started to run at max revs on their own oil, they could not be turned off and the one I was driving could not be stalled in gear ( with both the handbrake and me pushing down with both feet on the brake pedal) it continued to drive and accelerate until it eventually blew two conrods out through the block
