I'm considering buying the following Aldi special for sole use on the bike to save my expensive Sony Mini-DV camera from knocks etc.
http://www.aldi.ie/ie/html/offers/58_4515.htm - It seems to be a Traveler dv5060

I know that these cameras are little more than digital stills cameras flaunting a 'video' capability, but has anyone here bought/used anything like this and care to lend me their experience?

Second, recording time is going to be a function of storage card size, so...whats the likely maximum? The max card size (SD) is 4GB, and the highest video quality appears to be 720 x 480 @ 25fps, so is does that mean recording time is (4 x 1024 x 1024 x 1024) / (720 x 480 x 25) or approx 500 seconds / 8 minutes ???

TIA

After recommendations on here for I bought myself a Pentax W30 digital camera. It also came out top in THE GADGET SHOW's test of rugged waterproof cameras. I have found it a great all round stills camera and have often used its movie mode and been very pleased with the results. Maybe be worth the extra to get a quality piece of kit that can stand the rough and tumble of motorcycling.

I like the traveler camera's.

Good images for a cheap price. You better buy some extra batteries though - it does seem to get through them quickly!

I like the camera so much, I actually bought two and gave one to my mom.
