We are travelling north through Finland in mid June, heading from Tampere to Yllas, looks like head up to Oulu and on from there, come back down via the coast to Tampere

Anywhere worth stopping in either direction? Do wee towns in Finland have inns and pubs? Or should we wild camp? Is it worth stopping in oulu for a night?

On the way down it will be mid summer party so will probably try and stop on the coast, Kokkola maybe :nenau

Any opinions appreciated :beerjug:

June, ok but not quite the Finn's holiday period.
Helsinki, Vantaa, Lahti, Jamsa, Jyvaskyla, Isalmi, Koupio, Paltamo, Oulo.... that's a decent route with some Motel type hotels on that route.
I have a buddy who runs a nightclub in Jamsa called Klupi Pokura, the town is probably midway between Helsinki and Oulo, there are a couple of decent bars, restaurants and hotels there.
The bikes with foreign plates on will go well with the locals but watch your speed on the roads, the Police are shit hot keen.
I did a summer there a while back with an XR400, and fecking loved it.....

If you think yu are tasty to the mosquito, make sure you either keep wrapped up or wear 'Off' fly repellent!

You could do worse than call in at the Raahe Motorcycle Club. Four of us had fantastic hospitality there a few years ago. A really great bunch of people.

We're heading off next weekend for a little over 2 weeks, with our end destination being Finland.
We're getting the ferry from Harwich to Esbjerg. First stop off is Gothenburg via Copenhagen, then we head north to Dalecarlia, before getting the ferry from Stockholm to Turku. We then spend the next week in Raasepori area before heading home via Stockholm and Copenhagen.
Expecting to do in the region of 3000miles in the two weeks

Hello from Kokkola!
First, on north of Finland, be aware reindeers. There is lot of reindeers and they dont care about cars or motorcycles. If you drive evening or night be aware mooses. Those pastards run over road very fast, if you see those hope you brakes are good condition...

Oulu is nice place, find "nallikari camping".

Kalajoki "hiekkasärkät" is also nice place, there is very large beach.

Kokkola is small town There is camping area, few hotels and pubs and very nice island "Tankar". Threre goes ferries tuesday to sunday.

If you need road or another tips on west coast, I can help you.

I recommend smaller roads, examble way "8" is very boring...

Wellcome to Finland!
