What a bunch of kill-joys.:D

You don't need breakdown insurance (they have garages in France)
You don't need insurance documents other than the 'green card' bit
You don't need an MOT certificate (there is no bike MOT in France and no Genderme will ever ask you for it.
You don't need a tax disc (there is no tax disc in France)
You don't need a breathalyser at all
You don't need a hi-viz vest at all
You don't nee a spare bulb kit at all

See what I mean... Best stay at home!

Make sure you read the T`s & C`s of your insurance (both Travel & bike) to find out what is, and isn`t covered while your abroard.
Several insurance companies (inc AA, Europe assist & carol nash) won`t repatriate you and your bike to the UK IF it can be fixed "in country" even if that fix could cost you hundreds, if not a few Thousand Euros, leaving you with a very empty wallet

Blimey, wish I never asked now:blast

True, but you don't need to ask in the first place and you don't need instructions on how to find a hotel.

You do, however, need to ride on the other side of the road. Have a good trip and don't worry about a thing

You don't NEED them but breaking down (even a puncture) can really cause you problems if you don't have breakdown cover. Especially if you don't speak the language.

You don't need a spare bulb kit but as I believe it's illegal to ride without dipped beam you'd be well advised to take at least a spare headlamp bulb so if you get stopped you've got one to put in.

If you don't have breathalyser kit there's an 11 euro fine (although I don't think that comes into force until later in the year (?)

The other thing I'd add is a phone and a charger.

And has no-one mentioned debit/credit cards? At least 2 kept in separate pockets. I managed to lose mine at a fuel stop on the way back to the ferry but luckily had enough money to cover the final fuel needs. If I'd had them kept separately at least I would have only lost the one.

As an european, I find these threads amusing some times.
Hic sunt leones, as twizzle said. :D

I'm flattered that you all missed me so much:rolleyes: Just got back from Firenze. What a place; loads of bikes, a fantastic trip was had by all.:JB Proper report to follow.....:beerjug:
