Apologies if this has been asked before but I have a question on my tripple black with black wheels. After cleaning I notice the wheels are no longer black but seem to have a whitish residue after washing. No longer really black. Any tips on how to get them back to black? No pun intended…. ;)

What cleaner are you using, is this the first time it has happened? There are some cleaners that have caused issues in the past I won't let anything from the Muc-off range near my bike as I find that it 'dulls' the paint work.

Products with tfr - alkaline salts - acids should be well avoided, cleaners that do can, in fact, accelerate corrosion, particularly on aluminium, which is a problem as oxidation on aluminium cannot be undone, and will stain alloy - plastics and paint finishes.

Try Amy Winehouse?

I use Harley Davidson or SDoc100 Engine Brightener and sometimes WD40 depending on the degree of discolouration. The Harley stuff genuinely keeps the finish as matt, the Sdoc leaves a satin finish and the WD40 more shiny unless you buff it a lot.

Pluss one for turtle wash & wax , use it on my cars gs & caravan great stuff & cheap as chips .

On the subject of wheels, I have gold on the triple black…occasionally find a mucky mark that’s a right ball ache to get off, and still leaves a bit of a mark.

Tar remover not really helping, and I always use oh neutral cleaners…..wonder if anyone has found a product that can be trusted to do the job.
Not sure what the finish is, Powder coated steel?

That's what I use and with a soft wheel brush they come up really well.

After washing, I use GT85 sprayed onto a polishing cloth, does the job for me. (hubs and rims)

One thing to try is applying a light coat of acf 50 with a cloth or paintbrush. Then buff down with a dry cloth to remove any excess. It's what I do after each deep clean on my triple black.

WD40 on a cloth should bring them back up. It does a great job on my GS and when wiped on with a cloth does not leave it greasy.
