Triumph 400

Its not just Triumph. When I bought my Ktm from Colwyn Bay Motorcycles in 2022, they took three weeks to pdi a bike that was in the showroom . The same bike I sat on eg not in a crate in the back somewhere.

When it came to service they were six weeks out then! Really buxxx up the running in period as the ktm had lots of electronic warnings activated until the 1000 km service

The dealer removed the running in rev limiter from my bike when I picked it up. Just told me to go steady for 100 miles and then not to rag it hard until its first service.
So much electronics on modern bikes!

First service on my Speed 400 next week, still absolutely loving the wee bike.

Others seem to like it as well:

Interesting that chain and brake pads fucked at 800 miles .

Had a 400X for the day whilst new tyres being fitted to Wing

Nice bike for nipping out for a coffee but wouldn’t want to tour on it .

Very firm seat . Motor had plenty of low down grunt and even though it would pull from 30 in top, the fuelling was nowhere near as good as on the Himalayan 450 .
Not for me .

Took a Speed 400 out for a test ride today, as I’m in the market for something to have a bit of fun on.
Really nice quality feel to it and the engine and chassis performed really well, but I was really disappointed in the low speed fuelling and the vibration through the seat and pegs. Really put me off what I thought would be my next purchase.

Demo bike had covered just under 1100 miles.

Agreed.
Fuelling is poor.
What about a new Royal Enfield Guérilla ? Perfect fuelling and looks pretty good .

Seeing as there are some good discounts on the RE Interceptor 650 at the mo, I’m going to take a test ride on one of those.

Got one, love it, fuelling was rank up until I had the first service done, has been great since, plenty are changing front sprocket to 15, as for the RE WTF

I was in Edinburgh today so went to the Triumph dealer and sat on the 400, the Scrambler wasn’t as high as I expected, perfect height actually and I fitted the rest of it. Might have a test ride one day, I’d just need a plan for luggage, the one sided pannier thing doesn’t work for me.

Touring? No problem, I did over 2,000 mile round trip to Germany and back. This helped

I quite like using my Magadan soft panniers so ideally I’d be wanting a frame on each side to support them on any bike I buy. There will be a way, I can’t be the first.
